Whole Foods Market celebrated healthy eating for the New Year with a “Health Starts Here Passport Fair Event”; a weekend to get your eating habits pointed in the right direction! It was a festive, exciting day for both the Whole Foods Market staff and the happy customers who collected their passports and began their shopping experience by tasting nourishing foods in each department and learning about how a few dietary changes can impact on their lifelong health.

As fun as it was delicious and informative, customers used the “Whole Foods Market Health Starts Here” (WFM HSH) Passport as a guide. Healthy foods and recipes were showcased throughout the store at stations by enthusiastic and friendly team staff members and the shoppers walked through the Whole Foods Market visiting all the sample stations. Those who completed the tour and filled in the passport were then eligible to win a Healthy Pantry Makeover $50.00 Whole Foods Market gift certificate, along with a list of suggested healthy pantry products. All customers could taste “good for you foods” and learn how to stock a healthy pantry on a budget!

A Whole Foods Market Oakville tip: “Get a Fresh Start…. Clean Out Your Pantry”. Stock a healthier pantry and save money! Chose WFM 365 Everyday Value brand, Health Starts Here frozen items, an abundance of their affordable bulk options and go organic when available! These are your shelf basics. You will need to shop for some of them two to three times a month, depending on how many people you are cooking for. Then, once or twice a week, shop for more perishable basics and recipe ingredients: fresh and frozen fruits and veggies; 100% whole grain Health Starts Here breads found in their bakery department, whole grain flat breads and tortillas; lean meats and seafood; low fat dairy; and Health Starts Here prepared foods and pre-made meals. Visit the knowledgeable Whole Foods Market Oakville team members for help to get you started.

The Health Starts Here program provides healthy eating education with the goal of empowering customers, team members and stakeholders to make the best health-supportive, delicious food choices to maximize personal health and vitality. HSH focuses on the four pillars of healthy eating: real foods that are whole, fresh, natural, organic, local, seasonal and unprocessed; plant based foods; healthy fats from plant sources such as nuts, seeds and avocados; and nutrient dense foods.
