What’s New at Glen Eden?

One of the things I like the most about the winter is skiing, and I love that any day of the week without having to make elaborate plans and without having to drive for hours, I can pack up my skis and my son can grab his snowboard and we can head up to Glen Eden and be on the slopes in half an hour. We are lucky to have such a great ski and snowboard centre located so close to the city, especially one that offers such a great variety for all levels of skiers and boarders, including those who have never hit the hills before. With world-class snow-making and grooming

This year, Glen Eden has added a few more exciting features that will make your season even more enjoyable. The fantastic new Visitor Centre is located at the west end of the parking lot, and is a convenient place to sign up or sign in for lessons, or pick up a lift ticket or season’s pass, and then hop on the tractor shuttle to get to the hill.

The old triple chair on the east side of the mountain has been replaced with a much faster fixed grip quad chair that will help speed up the traffic and a second learning area has been added to help those who are just starting out find their comfort level. Glen Eden has one of the largest professional ski and snowboard schools in Ontario, and with lessons available every day, and beginners will be capable hands with the team of highly-trained instructors. If you are new to skiing or boarding, the Discover programs are a great way for the first-timer to learn the basics, and include equipment rental, a lift ticket for the dedicated beginner slopes, and small classes. Private lessons are also available for all levels.

Those seeking a little more thrill will love the Terrain Park, which features a great assortment of rails, boxes and jumps. Terrain Park Passes are an additional $10 plus HST per season and are available at each of the Visitor’s Centres.

With four food service areas, those wishing to take a break and grab some lunch or a snack will appreciate the variety of hot and cold food and drinks available, and the two chalets are the perfect place for visitors who are not participating in the activities to stay warm and cozy. Locker rentals are also available on a daily basis to safely store your gear.

Glen Eden is open seven days a week from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm. Seasons passes are available with many different options that allow you to choose one that suits your needs, from All Access passes valid during all operating hours, to Super Value Passes just for Monday through Wednesday nights. Glen Eden offers individual passes and family rates, as well as extremely reasonable rates for those less than five years old.

The Snow Tube Park at Glen Eden is probably some of the most fun you’ll ever have, and all ages will have a blast sliding down the snow on an air cushion on one of the four chutes. Tickets are available for one ride or up to six rides. Riders must be at least 42” tall. The Snow Tube Park is open from Friday through Sundays and holidays, from 10 am to 9 pm, weather permitting. Please visit the conditions page on the Glen Eden site to confirm availability.
