Together – we are stronger in our community. The May Court Club of Oakville was hosted by Wellspring Birmingham/Gilgan House (Halton-Peel) on December 10th, 2012. The appreciation night included a preview of the Wellspring’s newest facility, the Birmingham Gilgan House. This new location is situated at 2545 Sixth Line, Oakville (Sixth Line / Dundas Blvd.).
Wellspring was first established in Toronto in 1992, and subsequently in Oakville in 2000, Wellspring has a mission to provide emotional support for cancer patients and caregivers. It is a sanctuary where a person afflicted with cancer or his/her caregiver can come to be comforted, supported and be counselled one-on-one (in many cases by cancer survivors who understand what the person is living through). Wellspring provides these programs and services free of charge through its team of dedicated volunteers; many of whom are also proud members of the May Court Club of Oakville.

The new Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House was built thanks to the generosity of many within our community. You can say, ‘this new building was a construction of the heart’. Patti Hnatiw and Mags Shorey, both Past Presidents of The May Court Club of Oakville have been deeply involved with this initiative and have been active participants on the steering committee to raise much needed funds. The May Court Club of Oakville has donated a significant amount of money, and the amount will total in excess of $150,000. Liz Thomson and Dede Hacking (Past Presidents), both long-time May Court members, have successfully been scheduling May Court volunteers for the past 12 years in support of Wellspring’s good works. The May Court Club of Oakville is a service club; and its members have been volunteering countless hours in support to the Wellspring programs since the year 2000.
