Grilled Cheese at its Best – MELT

The MELT Godfather Sandwich

I don’t believe that there is anyone who doesn’t like a grilled cheese sandwich. It’s one of the best comfort foods regardless of how you make it and what you put in it. Some people like a plain, classic white bread with cheese.

Some like it with the crusts removed. Some prefer a heartier multigrain or whole wheat.

Some people like to add toppings galore, and some like to dip their finished sandwich in ketchup or a bowl of hot soup.

Cooked sandwiches made from bread and cheese in some form or another have actually been around since the Ancient Roman times, but the classic processed cheese and sandwich bread version is believed to have begun its popularity during World War II, when American Navy cooks made them by the thousands to feed the troops.

And undoubtedly, the best grilled cheese you’ve probably ever had was one that your mom made for you, until you’ve tried MELT Grilled Cheese.

Upper Oakville Shopping Centre Collects 550 Pounds of Food for Holiday Food Drive

Wednesday, December 26th, 2012

On December 20th, the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre donated just over 550 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Fareshare Food Bank in Oakville. The donation was the culmination of a four week long food drive that saw the centre’s customers generously bringing items to the drop box in their favourite store.

“Our tenants and their customers really stepped up and made this food drive a great success. We were really pleased with both the amount and the kinds of items we received,” said Megan Richardson, the Centre’s Manager. A total of 37 bags were collected, each weighing approximately 15 pounds. “A special thank you to the Upper Oakville Chiropractic Centre and their clients, who made the biggest contribution to our donation, and the owner of Head Over Heals who donated five bags himself.”

Pretty In Pink Spa Studio Celebrated “One Year of Pampering, Naturally”

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

A premiere organic kid’s spa, Pretty In Pink marked their first anniversary with all things pink, pretty and Paraben-free. Pretty In Pink Spa is for girls between the ages of 5-18 years of age and a go-to destination for organic health products. The young clients were treated to a Birthday Party extravaganza where they were able to invite friends to join them to be pampered in “Pretty In Pink fashion”.

The party girls were excited as they enjoyed a complimentary ride in a Pink Limo while posing for pictures and sipping on Pink Lemonade! This happened once they had their nails polished and their eyes made to sparkle with glitter. There was great music, many door prizes and raffles and the party-goers were treated to a Pretty In Pink bag of goodies and a mini cupcake as they left the excitement and exuberance of the Pretty In Pink Birthday Party.

Upper Oakville Shopping Centre Hosting Holiday Food Drive

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Oakville Fareshare Food Bank is located at 1240 Speers Rd.

In the spirit of Christmas giving, Upper Oakville Shopping Centre is coordinating a food drive in support of the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank. The food drive will run for four weeks from November 19 – December 17, 2012.

Customers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and leave them in the drop box at their favourite store. Each week, the boxes will be emptied, sorted and distributed by Shopping Centre staff to the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank.

For added incentive, the Shopping Centre is running a contest and awarding prizes provided by tenants to customers who donate to the food drive. Each time a donation is brought to a store, the customer will be given a ballot. If the donation is in a re-usable bag, the customer will receive two ballots. The ballots can then be filled out and deposited in the store.

Party on the Patio at the Niblick Pub

Wendy, Robbie, Richard, Rob, Julie, Marcia

A delightful evening of networking was held at The Niblick Pub in the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, giving business owners an opportunity to meet one another and to share information about their unique talents and the special services and features they provide.

The weather was warm and balmy and the conversation flowed easily as the experienced staff of the Niblick Pub served the “Party on the Patio” guests excellent food and drink.

The Niblick Pub is well known for “Great service and the best nachos in town”… in fact, the “Best pub food in Oakville!” Personally, my favourite dish is their delicious fish and chips! The Niblick patio is unique in that it feels like a secluded room, with an array of beautiful plants under the canopy of trees, giving a feeling of privacy to every guest. The Niblick is located in the mall at 1011 Upper Middle Road East in Oakville. Be sure to have a meal there soon!
