Women’s Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

Tuesday, March 18th, 2014

Fashionistas are gearing up to don spring’s hottest trends. This season is defined by soft pastels, lace embellishments, pleasing pleats and interesting jackets. The runways have played host to a unique array of prints and solids affording trend-seekers the ultimate in design for spring.

Pretty Pastels

Fabrics colored in soft pastel shades are ideal for separates from the cropped pant and shorts to office attire and daring dresses for nights out. The key to incorporating pastels into one’s wardrobe is to select flattering colors and introduce them modestly. Someone accustomed to darker shades is likely to be uncomfortable with a pale purple ensemble. Using pieces such as scarves, handbags and tees to introduce this season’s in-demand hues is perfectly acceptable.

Ron White Kicks Off The Annual Shoe Drive

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Ron White is known for his amazing shoe designs, his stunning All Day Heels®collection, that feel as great as they look, and his fabulous boutiques, but he should also be known for his huge heart and his dedication to giving back. Seventeen years ago, Ron started his Annual Shoe Drive, which has since become the largest in Canada. Over the years, many of Ron’s celebrity friends have been there to show their support by donating signed shoes, including international stars such as Celine Dion, Matt Damon, and Kevin Spacey, as well as Canada’s own Jeanne Beker and Ben Mulroney, as well as CITYTV’s Dina Pugliese and Jennifer Valentyne. Get To Know Vocado!

Kolleen & Emily at Vocado

Downtown Oakville has many fabulous clothing boutiques, but one of my favourites is Vocado. Not only do they have a great selection of clothing, accessories and footwear, as well as the hottest denim selection in town, but it’s the kind of place where the staff immediately make you feel comfortable, and as co-owner Emily says “it’s a warm, friendly environment and we’re proud of it, and customers become our friends and we love that.”

The co-owners of Vocado are long time friends, and met years ago when they both worked at a children’s toy and book store on Lakeshore Road as teenagers. Emily Dobbie and Kolleen Hanna both grew up in Oakville, and they dreamt that one day they would open a fabulous boutique filled with all of their favourite fashions. Now, they actually have two fabulous boutiques, one in Liberty Village in Toronto, and their hometown location in Oakville, just down the street from where they met.
