Let the Town of Oakville heat things up with their Summer Sizzlers camp program.
The Summer Sizzlers day camp program is an 8-week day camp program for children six to 12 years old, that will keep kids active, engaged, and excited about summer.
“We have something here that is relatively close to your home. You don’t need any special skills to come in,” said Jamie Angus Recreation Assistant for the town of Oakville.
“You come as you are, and we give a great safe, high five accredited program.”
Summer Sizzlers and the rest of the camps offered in Oakville are the only day camps in Halton accredited by High Five, a quality assurance program for summer camps in Ontario.
“What made us secure that accreditation is the staff, the staff are so passionate about the program they really care about the kids,” he said.
“They give 100 per cent everyday, whether it’s the first day of camp, or the last day of camp. They are just really truly passionate about what they do.”
The program, which is run in several different locations such as Glen Abbey recreational centre, offers an entry program with lots of great activities, and a more advanced program that includes swimming three times a week.
Lots to do
Every week there is either an off site excursion, or a special guest. On other weeks kids will head out to the zoo or go on other adventures, or they might make a movie, or create their own CD.
The program runs for a total of eight weeks from July 5 to August 27. There is no deadline for sign up and parents can enroll their kids at any time. Parents can also head over to Oakville.ca for more information and to enroll online.
Space is limited but the Summer Sizzlers program still has room available. Camps available through the town of Oakville have now been offered for over 50 years, and last year three thousand kids were enrolled.
