Shirley Anne & Wendy
A Holiday Tradition in Oakville since 1981, the St. Andrews Christmas House Tour opens eight homes, festively decorated, for the Christmas season. An eclectic mix of historical, waterfront and architecturally unique homes, each home is decorated for the Christmas season by incredibly talented local designers, offering visitors a wonderful opportunity to soak up the holiday spirit, as well as inspire them to decorate their own homes for this festive season.
The beautiful St Andrews Church at 53 Reynolds Street was also decorated and open for viewing. A tea room with Christmas baking took place in the Parish Hall adjacent to the church and the visitors were delighted to drop in for a cup of tea. A fundraiser, proceeds this year will be given to St. Andrew Church, the Oakville Marlins Special Olympics swim team and Ian Anderson House, a hospice for cancer patients.

Wendy Reimer, a talented and seasoned designer, graciously offered a preview of 249 Forestwood Drive. The owners, Richard and Shirley Anne Riordon, excited to have Wendy Reimer “starring” in the decorating of their home for Christmas, have created a new home, designed by Bill Hicks, that encompasses a very traditional plan, but one with every modern convenience, using the best of all materials possible. Their goal was to bring the flavour of Olde Oakville to East Oakville.
The decor for the Christmas season at Forestwood Drive is playful and uplifting, featuring original and delightful vignettes throughout this beautiful home. The state of the art kitchen opens into an amazingly warm and inviting family room. The fireplace glowed inviting us in to spend time admiring the magnificent Christmas tree! Cozy and comfortable, elegant and sophisticated, this home embodies the spirit and traditions of the Christmas Season; a beautiful example of the treats that were in-store for those who attended the St. Andrews Christmas House Tour.
The “after dark ambience” of the selected homes on the St. Andrews Christmas House Tour was highlighted during a candle light tour, followed by a cocktail reception at the Oakville Golf Club. In the spirit of giving, guests lined up to catch a glimpse of the handiwork of these talented designers, to view eight beautifully decked out Oakville homes and to soak up the feeling of Christmas, while supporting three very worthwhile causes. Christmas in Oakville!
