Silkeborg Entrance

Welcome to Silkeborg

Over 4000 miles from Oakville, there is a beautiful place named Silkeborg. This small but breath-taking town is surrounded by lakes and forests, and is considered to be one of the most spectacular places in Denmark.

Carl Jensen was born and raised in Silkeborg, which, when translated from Danish means “Silk Castle”. Carl and his wife Gina have brought the splendour and heritage of Silkeborg to their two stunning boutiques in scenic Niagara-on-the-Lake, and beautiful Downtown Oakville.

Oakville’s Silkeborg is reminiscent of the old-style high-street boutiques found in Europe. The historic architecture of the 1920’s bank building in which it occupies creates a magnificent backdrop for the beautiful treasures inside.

With two airy and expansive levels of shopping, Silkeborg evokes an atmosphere of what shopping used to be, with fashion, jewelry, house wares, gifts, and the children’s department, Baby Borg, as well as a lovely little café all under one roof.

Gina Jensen has an eye for fashion and a desire to make people feel beautiful. She searches for lines that reflect her love for stylish, well-made clothing, and with a nod to Silkeborg’s roots, purchases many of their collections from Scandinavia. Gina also loves Canadian designers, and  several of Canada’s most fashionable creations are also found in store. Silkeborg’s clothing collection has something for every occasion. From casuals for daytime to glamorous evening wear, you will discover pieces you will want to wear everyday and fabulous finds for that special night. Gina loves making people look good. “It’s important to us that Silkeborg has something for everyone, whatever your style – our goal is to make you feel beautiful!”

Blue Willi’s has been a hugely popular line with Silkeborg’s customers for many years. Handmade knitwear from natural fibres, including cotton, flax and silk, Blue Willi’s is one of Denmark’s most famous fashion houses. Another Danish line is from Charlotte Sparre, with gorgeous flowing silks in stunning colours, her designs have caught the eyes of celebrities and royals worldwide. One of Canada’s emerging accessories designers, Christopher Kon, is also available at Silkeborg. Known for his buttery soft leather bags, Christopher Kon’s bags are timeless pieces that you will use forever.

Since Silkeborg is located in what used to be a bank, there is an actual vault in the store, the perfect setting to house the stunning jewelry and accessories collection, including treasures from SNÖ of Sweden. Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Northern Sweden, Lena Jonsson Naslund designs timeless, stylish jewelry made from natural materials at an amazing price. Resplendent with cultivated freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones, the SNÖ of Sweden collection embodies simplicity and elegance.

Upstairs, you will find Silkeborg’s fabulous range of house wares and gifts, including a collection from Denmark’s famed Georg Jensen. Georg Jensen is synonymous with outstanding design and clean, timeless aesthetics. Established over a hundred years ago, and revered worldwide, pieces from Georg Jensen are instantly recognizable. Renowned for working primarily with silver and other metals, the collection includes simple yet stunning jewelry, streamlined cutlery, and brilliant house wares.  Silkeborg also carries items from Copenhagen’s Rosendahl. In the true Scandinavian design tradition, Rosendahl’s home collection is at once practical and functional, yet beautiful, and represents the ideal encounter between creativity and structure. Look for Silkeborg’s beautiful selection of hand-made candles too. Available in a wide array of colours, they are the perfect accent for anywhere in your home.

Silkeborg also houses a marvelous Baby Borg department. With adorable infant and baby wear, as well as innovative and fun accessories and gear for every part of baby’s life, Baby Borg has amazing selection that’s perfect for shower gifts.

Silkeborg has recently added an even more reason to visit, with the addition of the new Café Borg.
