On Tuesday, Sean O’Meara added his name to the race for Regional and Town Councillor for Ward 1 in Oakville. Joined by his wife, two-and-a-half-year-old daughter and eight month old son, it was a long time coming for O’Meara. Sean has called Oakville home for over thirty years and he now lives in Bronte.
“I’ve always thought I could do a lot for my community if I put my name forward. Life has a way of forcing you to make difficult decisions; but, ultimately, those decisions are the ones that end up transforming your life,” said O’Meara.
O’Meara left his recent position at Queen’s Park to be an advocate for his own community in Ward 1. Aside from his most recent position as Queen’s Park, O’Meara worked for the Current Ontario Minister of Labour, Kevin Flynn, in his community office in Bronte for a number of years.
Sean is positioned very well to be a strong and positive voice for his community. His experience working in Oakville and at Queen’s Park, as well as his corporate experience, offers Sean a firm foundation in leadership and advocacy. O’Meara understands what it takes to deliver for Bronte’s residents and is eager to get Bronte moving in the right direction.
“Ward 1 needs leadership now more than ever. With so many issues facing us, we need a voice that is going to bring the needs of business and residents to Council and not the other way around. I’m excited to bring a new fresh viewpoint to Council and if Ward 1 residents give me the chance, I’ll be a tireless advocate for them!” O’Meara stated.
Oakville’s Ward 1 bounds Burloak, Third Line and South Service Road South to the Lake. Oakville Municipal elections will take place on October 27, 2014.
