Rediscover cycling at Wheels of Oakville on Lakeshore Road in Bronte Village, Oakville!
Wheels of Oakville is your one stop bike shop for all your road cycling and triathlon needs. At Wheels of Oakville “we can get you any road bike that your heart desires”. According to Les Wawrow, owner of Wheels of Oakville, and Oakville Councillor Pam Damoff, “The new Golf… is Cycling!” “We are seeing more people on bikes; families, recreational and competitive bikers of all ages.”
Wheels of Oakville has always carried the latest and best high-end competitive bikes, perfect for racing and triathlons. With a wide selection of bikes from Cervelo and Pinarello , be sure to visit their showroom soon! In addition, Les Wawrow has recently expanded the shop on Lakeshore Road in Bronte to accommodate the ever increasing interest in this healthy, convenient mode of travel. As soon as your child can walk, there is a perfect bike on which to get started.
He has also included recreational bikes and equipment that the recreational cycler, no matter their age, is sure to love. The gears are smooth and the bikes are light, taking the stress out of cycling. Wheels of Oakville will also do your repairs and upgrades using only the finest parts…. and… after your initial investment in cycling equipment, the cost to have fun and get fit is negligible!
Les Wawrow opened Wheels of Oakville on Lakeshore Road because of the amount of bike traffic and the great biking lanes that have been added to Lakeshore Road and along the Waterfront Trail. There are now bike paths and biking lanes throughout Oakville, part of the Town of Oakville’s active transportation master plan. He enjoys the smaller feel and community spirit of Bronte Village Oakville and the fact that the Town attracts people who have a desire to stay fit and wish to include biking as a healthy, green choice.
Ward 2 Councillor Pam Damoff is an avid cyclist and promoter of cycling in Oakville. She had Wheels of Oakville fit her bike and has learned the value of the fine workmanship. Pam says, she has “always enjoyed cycling and the freedom that comes from riding on two wheels”. She is one of the co-organizers of Cycle Oakville, a grassroots group promoting cycling, bicycle-friendly business districts and organizing social rides. “Cycling is good for business” says Pam. She is extremely proud of Oakville’s Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community Award and encourages her community to “Strive for Silver.” She considers the “Share the Road” campaign one of the most important educational tools to encourage cycling.
It has been exciting to see the growth of bike parking at Oakville events in the last year. Since the first “bike corral” was hosted at Canada Day in Bronte in 2012, it is now commonplace for Oakville’s major events, including the Canadian Open, to have bike parking as part of their event strategy. Cyclists appreciate a free, safe, place to park their bikes, and when it is provided, more will ride. Permanent bike parking was installed in the downtown this year, and both Kerr Village and Bronte will be seeing bike posts installed soon. The Oakville Cycling Club has made Pam an honourary member. Oakville appreciates the support that she has generated towards the promotion of cycling as transportation and as a recreational activity throughout Oakville and Halton Region.
Les Wawrow of Wheels of Oakville and Councillor Pam Damoff will continue to be an unbeatable team as cycling continues to grow in Oakville. They encourage everyone to learn and obey the rules of the road, always wear a helmet and enjoy the health benefits. Personable, passionate and knowledgeable, Les and Pam are available to answer all of your questions.
