Beef and 3 Cheese Lasagna at Family First Organic Meals

Last year, Infant Organics introduced their wonderful line of homemade, fully organic baby and toddler food to the area. Lynne Faye and her two grown children, Mike and Stephanie, work together making the very best food for all the different stages of a baby’s development, full of goodness, and with no additives or preservatives. And now Infant Organics have introduced their newest addition, aptly named Family First, with a complete line of mouth-watering and nutritious food that all ages can enjoy, from kids to adults. Fully prepared, 100% certified organic, and not only good for you but delicious too!

From breakfast, lunch and dinner to handy starters and snacks, all of the choices are made from scratch using recipes that Lynne has carefully and lovingly created. Back when I was first introduced to Infant Organics, I was surprised by how colourful their Rosy Applesauce was, since I had never seen pre-packaged applesauce look as bright and delectable as this before. Mike explained that since they buy their produce and other ingredients as close to home as possible and clean, steam, and flash-freeze it right away, it makes an incredible difference, by keeping more of the valuable nutrients in, and producing more vivid colours and taste. And of course, buying locally helps to support our area farmers.

For breakfast, Family First offers a great selection of healthy choices. The ‘No Nuts about it Granola’ is a nut-free, protein-filled mix of seeds, oats and dried fruit, and the ‘Qoin-Wow Porridge’ with quinoa topped with applesauce or peach jam will start your day in a healthy way. I love the ‘Pancake Poppers’, an addictive treat that can be enjoyed anytime. With a light, moist pancake surrounding a dollop of Rosy Applesauce, they’re perfect warmed up for breakfast or for a tasty snack with a cup of tea.

Apple of My Pie

Family First’s choices of hearty soups, from Chicken and Basmati Rice to the meat-free yet filling Leek and Potato, and the zingy Gingered Carrot, are perfect for lunch or dinner. Entreés include the Vegetable, Beef and Red Bean Chili, which was as good as what my mom used to make, with just the right amount of spices to give it a nice little kick, and full of hearty kidney beans, satisfying beef and healthy vegetables. The Moroccan Vegetable Stew was a delicious blend of slow-cooked root vegetables, chick peas and exotic spices. Other choices include a Beef and 3 Cheese Lasagna, Roasted Veggie and 3 Cheese Lasagna, Madras Chicken Curry and more. Family First has many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices, and the menu has a handy legend so those with dietary restrictions can easily check their options, and most are available in single serve lunch size, single serve dinner size, and a family sized main dish.

Everyone will love the ‘Apple of My Pie’, a mile high apple pie containing almost 3 pounds of apple filling with Lynne’s amazing flaky pastry, and the adorable ‘Apple of My Pie’ minis, perfect for a single serving.  Other mouth-watering choices include Apple Betty, Strawberry and Rhubarb Crumble,’ Hip to be a Square Gingerbread’, and many more, including of course, the delicious Rosy Applesauce. Since Family First believes in using the freshest fruits and vegetables possible, the menu will be constantly changing to bring you the best the season has to offer, with exciting new choices as well as tried and true favourites.

Family First cares about the environment, and uses BPA-free, biodegradable, and eco-friendly containers to ensure minimal waste impact, and Stephanie’s talented art work in the design of the labels and store displays is absolutely amazing. Family First and Infant Organics also offers delivery service to Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Mississauga. Simply place your order online and have it delivered right to your door! Stash a few of the entrees in your freezer and have a filling, nutritious meal ready in minutes. Family First meals are perfect for seniors who don’t wish to cook for themselves and desire a hearty, healthy meal, which is why they are pleased to offer a seniors discount every day.

Come and visit Family First and Infant Organics in their new home at 140-A Thomas Street in Downtown Oakville, between Lakeshore Road and Randall Street, and take home some delicious and nutritious meals the whole family will enjoy. And don’t forget to enter Family First’s new location celebration draw! With any purchase made in-store or online, you will be automatically entered to win a $50 Family First Gift Card! The contest runs from Tuesday, March 6 to Friday, March 16, 2012. The winner will be announced on their blog on Monday, March 19, 2012.

  1. [...] We had a great time meeting the other booths around us as well as those who came to the show. We found that the majority of those who attended were very knowledgeable about organic food in general, and us as a company! In fact, we had quite a few people mention they read about us in the North Oakville Today paper or on Oakville.com. [...]
