The Oakville Chamber of Commerce was established in 1949 and represents more than 1,000 businesses in Oakville, Ontario. More information on becoming a member can be found on the Oakville Chamber web site. The new members meeting is held monthly and free to new members to attend. The Chamber new members meeting for November was held on November 27th, 2008 at the Rattle Snake Point Golf Club, which is located at 5407 Regional Road #25 in Milton, Ontario.

- Current advocacy issues
- Chamber committees
- Chamber events
Functions
Chamber board members highlighted that the main functions of the Chamber include: championing local business in the community, numerous business networking opportunities, various seminars throughout the year, meet with local government to provide feedback/concerns from local businesses.
Advocacy Issues
The board advised that they had met recently with local government to provide input and feedback on the upcoming budget and the Town of Oakville’s strategic plan.
Committees
Several committee chairs stood up and discussed their committees, upcoming meetings and events and how to become involved in the committees. New members were encouraged to participate in the various committees.
Events
Board members shared with the new members that there are more than 60 events held each year with more than 6000 attendees expected to attend. It was noted that many of the events are free or offered at a very low cost.
Success Stories
Current members stood up and shared success stories since joining the Chamber. New members were encouraged to network and do business with other Chamber members to expand their business network and grow their business.
Introductions
All the new members were given an opportunity to stand up and introduce themselves and say a few words about themselves and their business.
