Mayor Rob Burton, Susan Larkin, Brian Wood, and Members of the Oakville Professional Firefighters Association (OPFA) were on hand for the ceremony.

On Friday, February 12, 2010, Mayor Rob Burton presented a cheque for $8,958.48 from the Mayor’s Haiti Relief Fund to UNICEF Canada.

Mayor Rob Burton, Susan Larkin, Director for Community Engagement UNICEF, Brian Wood, TD Canada Trust, and Members of the Oakville Professional Firefighters Association (OPFA) were on hand for the ceremony.

Mayor Burton launched the Oakville Mayor’s Haiti Relief Fund on January 19, 2010 to provide residents with an easy way to donate money to relief efforts in Haiti. On January 23, 2010, the OPFA ran a fill-the-boot campaign at six Oakville stores and raised over $16,700 for the fund.

Donations were also collected at Oakville branches of TD Canada Trust and at all Oakville fire stations. In total, $17,916.96 was raised and equal donations were made to UNICEF Canada and Doctors Without Borders.
