The Oakville Milton and District Real Estate Board’s President’s Charity of Choice Gala in support of Habitat for Humanity was “An Affair to Remember”! A night of dinner and dancing, the Gala was fabulous evening and a total entertainment experience!
Last year’s President’s Gala raised more than $40,000 for Habitat Halton and the goal this year was to raise even more. Starting off the evening with a lovely reception, guests had an opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win a weekend in a Mercedes-Benz along with two tickets to the Freddie Cole Christmas Show and some wine to enjoy. To raise money for Habitat for Humanity Halton, there were both Silent and Live Auctions with items to delight every palette.

An added bonus, guests, dressed in gowns fit for the Royal Wedding, were treated to a fabulous fashion show, with elegant clothing and accessories from Chatsworth and Hall, Allegra Organic Spa and Boutique, Johnathan Quinn for Men and Moores Clothing for Men. To add to the excitement, the models were friends, chosen from local realtors.

Through the generosity of the many sponsors, donors and guests, the OMDREB and its members have the opportunity to once again support Habitat for Humanity Halton, enabling them to participate as volunteers in Habitat’s “Build Days”. Decent affordable housing is vital to a healthy and vibrant community and provides a framework for life. Thanks to the support of the OMDREB, a mother and four children will move into their new home in 2012. It will be a place where this family can feel safe and warm, cultivate their dreams and grow to be all that they can be.
Habitat for Humanity Halton is a local, non-profit, faith-based organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Its mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners to promote home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. In its first 11 years, Habitat for Humanity Halton has helped lift 15 families out of poverty and is a member of Habitat for Humanity Canada, and part of a worldwide network that spans 90 countries, has built more than 225,000 homes, and is now building a new home every 24 minutes.
Habitat for Humanity plays an active role in making the Oakville and Halton communities a better place to work, live and raise a family making a lasting contribution to our future. The OMDREB is a strong supporter of Habitat Halton, raising both awareness for the needs of Halton residents and raising money to help those less fortunate to have “An Affair To Remember – A Home!”
