Here’s a taste of what’s going on in Oakville this July:
July 10: 7am-8pm: 7th Annual Mayor’s Invitational Softball Tournament: The tournament is at Trafalgar Park/Glenashton Park . Sponsored by Trinison Management Corp, and Mattamy Homes this year’s charity is the Kerr St. Mission (KSM). For more information on KSM visit their website. July 12: 7-11pm: Bronte Legion Ladies’ Night Out Fundraiser: A good night out for a good cause. Buy a ticket for $10 including a drink ticket, food, entertainment, and a raffle ticket. Tickets are available in advance at the Club Room, or at the door. Profit will go the building repairs. For more information call: 905-827-4722. Bronte Legion is located at 79 Jones Street.
July 14: Drawing For Animators Workshop: Know any future animators? Sheridan College gives them the chance to learn from the best while building their portfolios. This week’s topic is Perspective drawing. Topics for July 21-31: Character Design, and storyboarding. The cost is $275 for each, and sign up through this website.
July 15: 6-9pm: Oakville Lions Cruze Night: The Oakville Lions’ Club presents a classic car cruise at the west Dorval Crossing Shopping Centre. Enjoy classic cars, and a DJ. This event is free of charge. Can’t make tonight? That’s okay, this event runs Tuesdays until September.
July 18: 6pm-12am: Midnight Madness in Downtown Oakville: Enjoy your favourite stores, and restaurants in 6 blocks of downtown Oakville until midnight. For more information call: 905-844-4520.
July 21: 10am-12:30pm: Rolling Horse Community Cycle presents a 12 hour course in the basics of bike mechanics and repair. Course suitable for kids from 11-13 years, and 14-18 years. It’s sponsored by ForestView Church, Halton Region and Kerr Street Ministeries. It’s a free program in exchange for community service hours. July 27: 10am-4pm: Oakville Children’s Festival: Coronation Park hosts a day for kids to play by the lake. Features performances from Sharon, Bram& Friends; Sheesham& Lotus; Jack Grunsky. July 29: 9:30-11:30: Oakville Museum Creature Feature: Kids 4-6 years of age can take a walk along the waterfront to spot local geese, ducks, and swans.
