January 9: 6:30-7:30pm- Healthy Living Workshop: Is living healthier one of your New Year’s resolutions? Come out to the YMCA of Oakville for information on how to change behavior patterns in order to avoid the common mistakes and get you on track for success. For more information call the YMCA at 905-845-5597 ext. 303. The YMCA of Oakville is located at: 410 Rebecca St, Oakville.

January 11: 7:15pm- Ring in the Chinese New Year with the Oakville Chinese Network at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, as they present: “I Wish.” Tickets are $25-30 each, and available online through the website, or by calling the box office at: 905-815-2021.

January 13: Volunteers wanted! The Town of Oakville is looking for a few good volunteers to help with Family Day events. Activities range from greeting and directing visitors, to dressing up as mascots. High School students are eligible for their community hours, and get a free volunteer T-shirt. January 15: 8-10pm: Leading Ladies at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts: Burl-Oak Theatre Group presents Leading Ladies a comedy about a group of hard-luck actors who pose as women to try and gain an inheritance. Buy tickets by visiting the box office online, or by calling: 905-815-2021. Can’t make it today? Performances run until January 18, and all are in the evenings from 8-10pm.

January 20: 2-3:30pm- Winter Fun: Kids from age 4, and up get a chance to take part in crafts and games at the newcomers’ information centre. Parents/guardians must be on premises the whole time. For more information contact the Centre for Education and Training at: 905-875-3851, ext. 5015. The Centre for Education and Training is located at 171 Speers Rd, Suite 20.

January 23: 6-9:30pm: Canadian Club Dinner featuring Richard Gwyn: The Canadian Club hosts best-selling author, and columnist Richard Gwyn at the Oakville Conference Centre. Gwyn’s books include: Nation Maker: Sir John A. Macdonald: 1867-1891. Tickets are $35 for members, $45 for non-members, and students for $20. To reserve tickets call Barry Wylie at: 905-827-6302. January 25: 8pm: Jim Belushi & The Chicago Board of Comedy: Second City, and Saturday Night Live alumnus Jim Belushi brings sketch comedy troupe The Chicago Board of Comedy to the Oakville Centre For The Performing Arts. Tickets are: $72-83 each, and available through the website, or by calling the box office at: 905-815-2021. The Oakville Centre For The Performing Arts Centre is located at: 130 Navy St.

January 31: 7:30-9:30am: RBC Economic Outlook Breakfast 2014- What are the economic trends for 2014? Join RBC Chief Economist Craig Wright, and C.D.
