There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer and each year residents of Oakville, both young and not so young, demonstrate the heart of our community is strong by volunteering to assist in the annual Oakville Stanta Claus Parade.
Critical to the success of the parade are the numerous volunteers who give their time each year to bring this important tradition to Oakville. The Parade itself is organized and run by a dedicated group of volunteers whose tireless efforts begin early in the spring and culminates each year on Parade day.
A meeting for all Parade volunteers will take place on Wednesday, November 7th at Town Hall in the South Atrium. Registration begins at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome! Questions about volunteering can be directed to volunteers@oakvillesantaclausparade.ca
“Volunteers are the heart of the Parade”, says Pam Damoff, Chair, Oakville Santa Claus Parade. “Whether walking the route as a costumed character or their handler, or assisting with Parade marshalling and traffic logistics, our volunteers ensure a successful Parade every year,” adds Damoff.
Parade volunteers must be at least 14 years old. High school students will receive volunteer hours for their participation. Information about the various volunteer opportunities can be found on-line at www.oakvillesantaclausparade.ca.
Celebrating its 64th year, the Oakville Santa Claus Parade is a cherished tradition in our Town. The 2012 Parade takes place Saturday, November 17th, beginning at 9 am at Lakeshore Road and Reynolds, going west on Lakeshore to Kerr Street, north on Kerr and ending at Kerr and Stewart Street.
