If you and your family are planning on staying in town during March Break, be sure to check out all of these great activities and events! From swimming and skating at our wonderful community centres to tons of fun at Oakville Place and Hopedale Mall, as well as some exciting outdoor activities at Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park is holding their Maple Syrup Festival. From March 3 to April 1, enjoy guided tours of Maple Lane, freshly made maple candy, and pancakes with fresh maple syrup and sausages or bacon, wagon rides and much more. The event is open every weekend and all week during March Break from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The cost is $16 per vehicle to access the park. Pancake meals are $3 for a small meal and $30 for a family platter. The Maple Syrup Festival is a fun and educational outing the entire family will love!


Want to go swimming on March Break? The Town of Oakville has additional March Break Recreational swimming times available at all three of the Community Pools, including Centennial Pool, Glen Abbey Community Centre, and Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. Admission is $4 per person and there is a group rate of $12 for a maximum of five people. Children under 2 years of age are free. Visit the Town of Oakville’s website at www.oakville.ca and click on Culture & Recreation – Public Swimming for a complete listing of times and locations.

Feel like skating instead? The Town of Oakville also has additional recreational skating times available daily at five of the Town rinks. From Monday to Friday, March 12 through to March 16, at Glen Abbey from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, Kinoak from 3:30 – 4:45 pm, Maplegrove from 3:30 – 4:30 pm, Oakville Arena from 1:00 – 2:30 pm, and River Oaks from 1:00 – 2:15 pm. The cost is $4 per person, and there is a family rate for up to 4 people for $12.

The Oakville Public Library is offering a variety of entertaining March Break programs, including ‘Meet the Owls of Harry Potter’ presented by the Mountsberg Wildlife Centre, and a special appearance from Princess Belle, where children can dress in their finest royal attire and listen as Belle reads princess stories. Please visit www.opl.on.ca for further details on times and locations. The Central Branch Library will also be holding a March Break Teen Mario Kart® Wii™ Gaming Tournament! Session 1 takes place on Monday, March 12 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm for ages 12 – 14. Session 2 is on Tuesday, March 13 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm for ages 15 – 18. Looking for some fun in the snow during March Break? Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre is offering five day March Break Camps for Skiing and Snowboarding. Availability is limited, so be sure to call 905-878-5011 and book it today, or just go up for the day and enjoy some fun on the slopes and lunch in one of the cozy chalets! Oakville Place is presenting Mad Science during March Break. Come to the Centre Court and enjoy the interactive shows and Fun Stations! Spark your imaginative learning from Monday, March 14 through to Sunday, March 18. Daily shows are at 11:00 am. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Mad Science will be demonstrating ‘Fire and Ice’, and Saturday and Sunday will see ‘Up, Up and Away’. Fun Stations on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday include ‘Dry Ice – So Cool’, ‘Cotton Candy – So Sweet’ and ‘Snow Tubes – So Sparkly’. On Thursday and Saturday, the Fun Stations will include ‘Slime – So Slippery’, ‘Silly Putty – So Nutty’, and ‘Pet Tornadoes – So Swirly’. The Fun Stations are open from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.

Hopedale Mall is celebrating March Break from Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 16, with daily activities for children. On Monday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, come and see ‘Daffy Dill’ the Clown, who will be making balloon animals and performing a comedy magic show. Tuesday, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm, is craft day and kids can create their own foam ladybug magnets. On Wednesday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, ‘Daffy Dill’ is back with another comedy magic show and balloon animals. Thursday from 12:00 – 3:00 pm, kids can create their own colourful Mardi Gras style masks, and a Stilt Dancer will be parading around the mall! On Friday, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, ‘Daffy Dill’ makes her final appearance, and from noon to 3:00 pm, kids can create their own plants with pom-pom googly-eyed plant buddies!

With all of these exciting activities, the entire family will have fun this March Break!
