Haiti Fund Raisers in Oakville February 6 & 10

February 2nd, 2010 by Comment button No Comments »

There is a outpouring of support for Haiti happening in Oakville and you can be part of it.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 10 there is a dinner to benefit Haiti with all proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross efforts in Haiti. The IUOE is hosting the fund raising dinner Feb 10 at their facility on Speers Road for 450 people at $200 each. You can contact them or my office for ticket information.
  • Saturday night, Feb. 6 at 8 pm at the Firehall Restaurant in the Bronte Mall friends and neighbours and fans of Oakville Dr. John Yates are gathering to raise money to support the work he and his family are doing in Haiti. Tickets are $15. There is a Facebook page called Oakville Haiti Relief Fundraiser.

I’m excited about these grassroots initiatives. They show Oakville’s generous spirit for those in need. My wife Wendy and I will be there to show our support. I’m co-chair of the IUOE dinner.

And my Mayor’s Haiti Relief Fund has raised close to $17,000 in its first week through 13 TD Canada Trust branches and the “fill the boot” campaign by Oakville firefighters last Saturday.

Sincerely yours,

Mayor Rob Burton
