Oakville saw The Mayor’s Invitational Tournament this past Wednesday, which is a softball tournament in support of two charities in Oakville – Community Living Oakville and Kerr Street Ministries.
“The Mayor’s Invitational Tournament is one of the ways I support the two charities in Town I think need it most,” Mayor Rob Burton said.
“All kinds of companies and teams come together to make that happen,” he said.
“Today started with the best weather yet and smoothest organization, and somebody somewhere must have been really good, because the weather got even better.”
“Were going to raise $100,000 for those two, they need it badly. It’s going to make a lot of difference in some lives that really need it.”

12 teams began the tournament early in the day, and the final game of the tournament was held at Trafalgar Park between the Rosehaven and the Town of Oakville teams.
Tied 4-4 going into the forth inning of a five inning game, Rosehaven managed to take a 6-4 lead over the Oakville team in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the final inning Oakville managed to tie the game with a double, then take the win with a dramatic single run to end the game.
On hand for the tournament was Michael “Pinball” Clemens who chatted with Oakville residents alongside the Mayor.
“No matter who wins the Town wins,” Mayor Burton said.
