Get Him To The Greek Movie Review

Funny is how I’d describe Get Him To The Greek. Actually, really funny.

Jonah Hill – the chubby guy from Superbad – and U.K celebrity Russell Brand share the spotlight of this spin-off sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Hill plays Aaron Green, an intern at a big-time record label in California where he suggests a comeback concert for the washed-up rock legend Aldous Snow (Russell Brand).

His boss, who is hilariously played by P.Diddy, thinks the idea is brilliant – and Hill is sent overseas to make it happen.

The plot

Snow must be put on a plane to the United States from his British home, appear on the Today Show – and then to the Greek Theatre for his big concert. Sounds pretty textbook right?

With that simple plot unravels a mess of awkward, dirty, and often raunchy shenanigans. Good for audiences – bad for those who weren’t expecting such a crude comedy.

They end up in Vegas, California, London, New York – all while ingesting enough alcohol and narcotics to knock out a horse. Hill’s character is taken on a rollercoaster of bad behavior and questionable women alongside the greasy rock star Aldous Snow.

Overall

The film is surprisingly funny from start to finish. And there’s a lot of one-line jokes and memorable moments to talk about on your way out to the parking lot.

This is defiantly not a one-laugh movie.

Brand is great as the washed up rock superstar, drowning his sorrows with drugs, alcohol, and women. The chemistry between Brand and Hill really works, and they turn into a great comedy duo that everyone will love.

Hill seems to be stuck in a role as the funny awkward guy – but it’s working for him. By the end of it you might even feel bad, once he’s put through hell and back.

P.Diddy has to be mentioned for his role as the crazy boss who yells at all of his employees – a surprise since he is known for his rap career.

Funny, dirty, naughty, inappropriate, gross, but a hell of a lot of fun to watch. I don’t know how else to tell you that this film is great without spoiling it for you. You have to see it for yourself.
