Q: Tips for Homebuyers right now?
“We haven’t seen a market where mortgage rates have been fluctuating around the 3% mark for so many years. Thanks to lower inflation rates, we have been able to maintain these low rates for an extended period of time. But as the global market starts to recuperate, the Canadian Government predicts that the rates will rise.
Knowing this, new homebuyers are at a ‘great moment’ to obtain spectacular products at incredible rates, as well as for refinances. Our most valuable recommendation to our clients at this moment is to lock these rates for longer than 5 year terms. Although the 5 year rates are extremely attractive, the client does run the risk of having their mortgage come up for renewal in 5 years in the middle of an increasing interest rate market. It’s just unbelievable that right now lenders have products with 10 year term for less than 4%. Why not take advantage of that!!”
