Television series Covert Affairs filmed in Oakville

The Compass Lakeside Grill and Lounge in Oakville was overrun with trucks, lighting equipment, and pretty girls in bathing suits for the filming of the upcoming television series Covert Affairs.

The show, scheduled to premiere in the middle of July on NBC and the USA network, features Piper Perabo as a rookie spy agent. The storyline follows the character of Annie Walker – played by Perabo – across the world as she learns to navigate the bureaucratic maze of the CIA.

Perabo has appeared in Coyote Ugly, The Prestige, and the hit television series House. Peter Gallagher formerly known as Sandy from the drama The OC, and Sendhil Ramamurthy from Heros are also a part of the cast of Covert Affairs.

Oakville waterfront featured

Scenes were shot on the patio of The Compass Lakeside Grill and Lounge backing onto the clear skies of Lake Ontario with many boats docked in the harbour. The location was intended to mimic a high-class resort or restaurant in Carcas Venezuela.

Trucks arrived at the restaurant on Tuesday and the crew set up their equipment. They finished filming on Wednesday and packed up by 11:00 p.m.

One shot was taken at the front entrance of the building – with Venezuelan flags draped across the front entrance – and a driving scene shot as the actors exited the building. After the scene was completed, the crew moved to the parking lot where another driving scene was shot using a green screen.

Filming continues

The show has been filmed mostly in Toronto, with shooting to continue tomorrow in Burlington.

Media was asked to refrain from taking pictures on private property on the restaurant patio but many of the actors and extras were spotted on set and around the harbour.

Oakville residents had to re-route their morning walks along the lake as camera and lighting equipment blocked their way.

  1. Thank you says:

NBC was shooting a film for tv at Bronte Harbour in Oakville in late May (the 25th I believe). I would be very interested in knowing the name of the show plus the director’s name. I was speaking with the director and he indicated that the show was for U.S. audiences only but it was hoped that it might be shown in Canada at some time. I would like very much to know the name of the director and the name of the show.

    Thank you very much
