Food is urgently needed to stock the shelves of the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank this Thanksgiving season: Offering a Helping Hand to the Less Fortunate in Our Oakville Community!
Food is a necessity all year round. Please consider, as our families prepare to sit at Thanksgiving tables, ladened with more food than we could possibly consume, that this is an excellent time to share food with those who may not even have the luxury of a Thanksgiving dinner. The Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive is in full swing.
Oakville Fareshare Food Bank collection bins can be found in every grocery store and at all Oakville Fire Stations. Oakville’s Longos stores have been innovative and have packaged bags of food for $10.00 each for the Oakville Fareshare Food Drive. The bags are on display just inside the doors as you walk into the store.
This makes your shopping easy and ensures that the best Food Bank items are included. As you see from the picture, there is a good supply of Foodshare bags left for you to pick up when you shop and then to donate. When you are grocery shopping for your family, there is a great opportunity to do some shopping for needy families and to show gratitude for all the bounty we have.

Call Ron Ziegel at the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank. He will be happy to share additional ideas as to how you can contribute to this very worthwhile cause. You may want to plan a Food Drive or ask company employees to support the Food Bank through donations. Money is also required by the Oakville Fareshare Food Bank to provide perishable items and meat for these families and, of course, to pay the rent! Tax receipts will be issued for all cash and cheque donations.
The Food Bank is open until 4pm each day until October 14th during the Food Drive. Their web-site also provides valuable information.
