Random Act of Kindness Day is designed to raise community spirit by spontaneously offering a “good turn” for someone, just because it’s a kind and fun thing to do!
The random act of kindness can be simple and no cost (e.g. take out the garbage for an elderly person) or, it can be at modest cost (e.g. buy cookies for the office). And then there’s the “ripple effect”. Imagine if this idea took hold in our communities, such that people did it more and more… What kind of a community would we be developing then?
Here’s some of the great things schools and kids will be doing on RAK day:
- Falgarwood school have decided to tie Halloween to Food Hunger and are doing a Food Drive!
- Gladys Speers School is creating a bulletin board for students, parents and staff – they are collecting and thereby sharing ideas and activities on RAK with each other.
- West Oak Park School will be placing inspirational notes and RAK cards on each student’s locker.
Random act of Kindness is all about paying it forward. So just to help, a reminder about our Social Media Contest - It’s quick, simple and fun!
