Get Your Fun On with the Kids this Summer

Whether visiting an amusement park or exploring a museum, local establishments provide a fun way to have an educational experience or to get outside for some fun.

With dozens of attractions available around Halton Region and Toronto there’s plenty to do to keep busy throughout the year.

By planning ahead some of these attractions can be a budget friendly alternative to the more expensive admission fees (close to $50) the most popular attractions can charge.

The Oakville Players presents “Welfarewell”

The Oakville Players presents “Welfarewell”, an award-winning comedy that celebrates the “Power of the Human Spirit.” March 20th will not only mark the first day of spring but the first day of a production by The Oakville Players (TOP) that will make you laugh even though there may still be snow on the ground.

Welfarewell, a comedy by Canadian playwright Pamela (Cat) Delaney, Winner of the 2009 Samuel French Canadian Playwrights Contest, will be performed at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on March 20-23 and March 26-29, 2014. Closing The Oakville Drama Series season, Welfarewell boasts a cast of 14 talented and enthusiastic actors and 30 committed volunteers from throughout the Halton Region.


March Events Round-up

Here’s a taste of what’s going on in Oakville this month:

March 8: 9:30am-3:00pm: The sap starts flowing the first Saturday in March, and you’re invited to see how it’s made. Take a guided tour of Maple Lane and sample hot pancakes with syrup, and maple taffy. A great place to take the kids, it’s open daily through March Break. For more information visit the website.

March 9: 11am-7pm: Oakville Place Presents: “Just Dance 2014,” a daily dance off competition for kids of all-ages. The dancers with the highest scores in each age group will be invited back to compete on March 15, 2014. All will walk away with a $500 shopping spree at Oakville Place. Looking for Something to do in February

February is the shortest month of year. Here’s a taste of what’s going on in Oakville this month:

February 13: 9-11:30am: Ever wondered how to make chocolates? The American Women’s Club of Oakville and Chocolate Tales Inc. can show you how today at St. Paul’s United Church. It’s $20 cash at the door, including a box for each participant.

Her Movie Review

We smartphone users are obsessed with our devices, so it seemed inevitable for someone like writer-director Spike Jonze to bring us a movie about a man who literally falls in love with his. It seems like a comedic concept, but Her is a love story, with all the ups, downs, and melodrama that implies. Too bad its signal strength is weak, despite some interesting ideas.
