CARSTAR Oakville East and CARSTAR Oakville West declared that “A Dirty Car is a Thing of Beauty”. CARSTAR’S Ninth Annual Charity Car Wash, “Soaps It Up!”, raising money for cystic fibrosis, was pushing to meet $2-million fundraising milestone at this nationally supported car wash and dirty cars were needed to help them achieve their goal for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
In spite of a day of heavy rain, local residents, encouraged by the engaging young baseball players from the Oakville “A’s” AA Minor Rep Baseball Team, pulled into the CARSTAR Oakville East lot located at 547 Trafalgar Road just south of the QEW. Residents enjoyed the efforts and car washing skills of the team members while supporting the donations made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada and the Oakville “A’s” AA Minor Rep Baseball Team.

Businesses and local volunteers also got involved! Audi Centre Oakville, Oakville Volkswagen, barbecues and volunteers from Enterprise Rent-a Car, Marks Auto Service, and Car Parts Co, were but a few of the major sponsors, joining with CARSTAR Oakville, giving time and money to support this worthwhile cause. There were also 100 prizes to be won during this fundraising campaign, including an all-inclusive trip for two to Costa Rica, an Apple prize package (featuring a Macbook Air, iPad, and more) and a $1,000 shopping spree.

To mark this major milestone, Canada’s number one auto collision network has officially declared the dirty car an object of beauty, commissioning world-renowned “dirty car artist” Scott Wade to literally transform dirty cars into works of art using the dust on a dirty car windshield as his canvas. Photos of his original work will be available at www.carstar.ca/soapsitup.
Cystic fibrosis is a worthwhile cause. It is a multi-system disease that affects mainly the lungs and the digestive system and is the most common fatal genetic disease that affects Canadian children and young adults. Each week in Canada, two children are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and one person dies from the disease. There is no cure.
