Boats destroyed in early morning fire in Oakville

The Halton Regional Police Service and the Oakville Fire Department are investigating a fire that has destroyed two boats and seriously damaged two others, while moored at a dock on 16 Mile Creek, in Oakville.

On June 16th, shortly before 2:00 am a resident in an apartment building over-looking 16 Mile Creek at the Rebecca Street Bridge, observed at least two boats on fire.

Two boats destroyed, two damaged

Upon arrival police and fire found the 2 boats fully engulfed while 2 others were in the early stages of being on fire. The Oakville Fire Department had the blaze under control within an hour.

At this time in the investigation it has not been determined what caused the fire. The Halton Regional Police Arson Unit, Oakville Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office will be working together during the investigation.
Damage to the first boat is estimated at $300,000.00, the second boat has an estimated $200,000.00 dollars in damage, while the remaining 2 suffered damage estimated at $50,000.00 each
