The Upper Canada Region Porsche Club of America and Pfaff Autoworks Collision and Repairs presented the Porsche 2012 UCR Concours d’Elegance: “On The Grass And In The Green” on the vast, prestigious grounds of Appleby College in Oakville, featuring a Peer-Judging Concours for Porsche Cars Only Award and a People’s Choice Winner of Show Award.
This weekend there were eighteen separate classes of Porsche vehicles, from models 356 to 991, from all over Ontario, on display and open for the public to view and admire, all free of charge, with all proceeds being donated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Included were Porsches from many eras. Some Porsches were of special interest to aficionados, and others were Competition Porsches that are always a “must to see”! The balance of the entries came from Porsche owners who love their vehicles and are happy to share their works-of-art with others!
It was a family fun-filled day in a very relaxed setting as spectators and owners ate their picnic lunches, viewed amazing cars from camping chairs canopied with umbrellas, admired the elite Porsches and had the opportunity to pick their favourite for the People’s Choice Award. A great opportunity to talk about the different Porsches with the owners, who know and understand their cars intimately!

The Porsche Club of America, Upper Canada Region, chartered in 1976, is made up of a dynamic group of over 3000 people with a common love of the Porsche family of automobiles and many of these people are from Ontario. 2012 UCR Concours d’Elegance was sponsored and made possible by Pfaff Autoworks, Porsche Cars of Canada, Braidan Tire, On Walls Solutions and the IG Investors Group.
As a storm cloud threatened rain and a few drops fell, the curtain was drawn and this wonderful display of fine Porsches came to a close. I was lucky to have a few beautiful Porsches left with their proud owners before the Appleby college soccer field was returned to the “future Porsche owners and our future world leaders.”
A word about these fine cars: In 1931 Ferdinand Porsche designed the first Porsche. Today, according to the Porsche web-site, “Porsche is a unique company with strong ideals. Our values and philosophies permeate through everything we do to ensure that we always remain true to our principles. We constantly meet our own high demands and have a definite idea about who we are and how we approach things. As a result, despite what others may be doing, we at Porsche actively seek to stretch boundaries and are committed to continual improvement.
It is thanks to our tireless dedication to quality that more than 70% of all Porsche cars ever built are still on the road today. Our vehicles are not only remarkable – they are also designed to last. This is because they meet our exacting standards in terms of quality and safety. The result: high performance meets outstanding everyday practicality. And breathtaking dynamics are coupled with exceptional occupant comfort and safety.
Based on the principle of achieving maximum output from minimum input, this race-inspired philosophy is integral to each and every one of our cars. We call it Porsche Intelligent Performance.”
